If 2012 is a world changing event there isn’t a whole lot we can do about it, right?  Wrong, says tonight’s guest Mike Bara.  Mike says each of us, as part of humanity, can actually shape what happens in the 2012 era and transition the world into a better age.  You can find his book on the subject at Amazon.com:

How can anyone know what will happen in 2012? All we have are records from the past, theories based on shreds of plausible evidence from various sources, and our imaginations. I personally would LIKE to believe that 2012 will bring about some sort of "awakening", but even I don't know that. What I do believe is that people should always be prepared for whatever life might throw at them (assuming they have the means). No one can predict the future, but if you could, would you ignore it?

JMHO, there isn't going to be ANYTHING happen in 2012 - nothing.

I just wonder what the people who are pushing this will say after the time comes and goes - and we are all still here?

Isn't this the plot to "Ghostbusters 2?" The pink slime reacts to whatever attitude its human handlers feel.

Ever notice they always have a way out if the world doesn't end? Like, "Oh, it was really just a shift in the way people might think about the world and their decisions."

I wonder what the next buzz year will be when 2012 turns out to be a dud? It's not like these shisters are going to hang it up.

Normally, I'd hang it up after hearing this malarkey. But Jim is one of the only objective, even-handed hosts on the Intertubes. That's why I come back.

The people who say that 2012 will be a "transition" are the smart/cynical ones - they're hedging their bets that nothing unusual will happen (as it almost certainly won't) so that they don't get egg on their faces. The doom mongers have slowly dwindled in number as the big date approaches, with only the really mentally disturbed ones like Nancy Lieder clinging on to their beliefs. Marshall Masters has significantly toned down his rhetoric, although he's always been deliberately ambiguous about what will happen.

This is the same technique used by astrologers, psychics etc. Be vague, be ambiguous and no one can accuse you of getting things wrong. So 2012 will be a year of "transition"? I've got news for you - every day on this planet is a period of transition. It's called "time".
